Why I have pulled back on using LinkedIn

Recently there’s been some issues I’ve had with how LinkedIn collects users data. Now before you think I am getting all “tin foil hat” hear me out.

LinkedIn is currently dealing with not one but two class action lawsuits against them over this issue, I’ll link the video below from someone on YouTube that keeps up with this stuff. You can find my post here about “age verification” and how it’s not about the children.

Social media is primed for attack from those that want your attention and personal information. With AI becoming more powerful it is not a surprise.

This is just some of the things LinkedIn collects:

Personal information from your browser if you are using an extension that will scrape your profile from the browser and then “store” that information with third parties. I’m being sarcastic. It’s sold and used for advertising and other stuff.

I am highly suspicious of bio metric data being requested and stored in a cloud storage system. That’s your fingerprint or facial recognition. Why does LinkedIn need that from its users?

I guess the lawsuits will tell us if discovery is a part of the suits.
